Mistakes People Make When Buying a Laptop

by Joyce Gray September 27, 2020

Before you purchase your dream laptop, you should know the mistakes you ought to avoid. It does not matter whether it is hardware failures, obsolescence, or accidental spills; you need to get a new laptop after every few years. One of the new models you can get is acquista MagicBook Pro. Remember that technology keeps changing, and your needs also keep changing. When buying a laptop, these are some of the mistakes you need to avoid.

Laptop Buying Mistakes

Design Over Function

When buying a laptop, you should look into the specifications and features, not the brand. Maybe the laptop you have seen online has an excellent design, and you think it is amazing. Unfortunately, you will not be spending most of your time admiring the laptop. It is advisable to pay attention to features that matter. Check its screen display, hardware, and refresh rate. The design of a laptop should not outrank its functionality.

Size Over Durability

If you are always on the move, you will probably need an easy and small laptop. What you forget is that smaller items can be quite fragile as compared to large counterparts. Moreover, smaller laptops are a bit fragile as compared to larger ones. Some even have low-quality grade hardware and are associated with overheating problems.

Not Doing Adequate Research

Most people stroll to the store expecting to get help from sales staff to help you choose the right laptop that suits your requirements. Unfortunately, that is not their work. They are there to generate sales and get commissions. If they have a certain brand of laptops, they will want to sell them faster. Therefore, you should start your research online. Start by understanding the features of a laptop that can suit your purpose. If you do not play intensive games, then you do not require a laptop with an expensive graphics card. Moreover, if you are planning to browse the internet, playing internet-based games, and writing documents, then check out some of the affordable laptops.

There are many websites with detailed reviews covering many laptops. You should look for the laptop you require and check retailers with discounted deals. Never limit yourself to the stock available.

Glossy Screens

This is a marketing gimmick that has gained a lot of popularity. When the laptop is in the store, it has an eye-catching and reflecting surface. However, most people fail to notice the daylight lamps in the store. When you buy the laptop, you end up not having such a glossy screen. It is advisable to go with regular screens that are cheaper. In this way, you can also see what you are doing.

Taking Advice from Salesmen

Remember that salesmen are not working for you. It is advisable to ask questions about the technical features of the laptops. Look at the way they answer questions. Are they sure of what they are talking about? You can save both your time when you have adequate knowledge about the laptop you want to buy. Avoid salesmen who pressure you into purchasing a laptop.

Falling for Extended Warranties

You may be surprised to learn that extended warranties are equally a marketing gimmick. A low-quality laptop will develop problems within the first few months. Those extended warranties also come at a cost.

Advantages of Using Huawei Site Kit

by Joyce Gray September 3, 2020

The ban placed on the Chinese tech company, Huawei, by the US government pushed them into creating solutions for themselves, one of which is the Huawei Site kit.

For those following global trends in the tech space, you’d have heard of the 2019 ban placed on Huawei that prevents them from doing business with any of their American colleagues.

This ban submerged them in a deep well because they were thriving on Google Mobile Services (GMS). This gave them access to Google apps and services including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, and also popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Fortunately, there were some passive plans to create their mobile service system before then, but the ban accelerated their plans.

Now you may be wondering as a developer or content creator, “Why do I need to place my apps or product using the Huawei Site Kit?”

Huawei Site kit vs Google Site Kit

We can’t fully appreciate the benefits until we compare the Huawei Site Kit with its counterpart, the Google Site Kit.

Without further ado, let’s look at how the Google Site Kit helps developers and content creators.

What is the Google Site Kit all about?

The Google Site Kit is mostly used by WordPress creators, site owners, hosting providers, developer (and developer agencies), etc. It enables them to configure Google products, set up tools on the site, and analyze performance via the stats.

The installation, configuration, and setup of the Google Site kit is one of its fantastic attributes.

Now, let’s proceed to the Huawei Site Kit

What is the Huawei Site Kit all about?

This site kit is more developed and advanced, and deeply enshrined in the Huawei Mobile Service (HMS). It gives users access to services and also makes their apps available to people all across the globe.

Top benefits of the Huawei Site Kit

· Available in various languages:

Developers are advised to create apps through the Huawei Site Kit because it’s available in 13 major languages.

This is so important because it helps in app localization, and it’s unfortunate that a lot of developers don’t capitalize on the benefits that app localization brings. If you create an app in one or two languages, only a subset of people will benefit, leaving thousands of people who may have genuine interest in what you’ve developed but face language as a barrier left out.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re creating a lifestyle app, travel navigation app, utility mobile app, information mobile app, productivity app, or even an entertainment’/mobile game app. You must invest in app localization, and this site kit allows you too seamlessly.

When your app or product can be accessed in different languages, it’s potential for success increases. The investment in the app can be small but its return on investment will be massive when it’s widespread.

· Wide coverage:

This is why app localization is very important. As of February 2020, HMS had over 650 million actively monthly users spanning across over 200 countries. Imagine the global reach your app will get when it runs through the Huawei Site Kit.

· Great data source

There is massive data available in over 130 million places.

Final Thoughts

So here’s what we think. Huawei is definitely on the way up. It surely means that they are worth taking an extra look at.

All the Questions about Your Huawei ID Answered

by Joyce Gray September 1, 2020

If you are using a Huawei smartphone, then you must have heard about Huawei ID. It comes with practically all flagship phones of the smartphone maker and has become really popular. However, it might also seem troubling.

Security is one of the most important factors when you are online. That also applies to your smartphone. You might have a lot of questions about Huawei ID as well as how safe it really is.

In this article, we’ll try our best to answer those questions and more. Let’s start at the top.

Why Would I Need A Huawei ID?

Your Huawei smartphones come with a bunch of services that will help you enjoy your experiences more. Collectively, they are known as the Huawei mobile services. Without your Huawei ID, you will not have access to these services which is also known as the HMS. You can find more about their services by clicking that link.

Some of the services that you will definitely enjoy include Huawei themes as well as HiCare. Remember though that the services that are available to you will also depend on the country you reside in.

Can I Use By Huawei ID On Several Devices?

Yes, you can. However, there are a few things you should know. First, your Huawei ID can only be used on a Huawei smartphone. You should also know there are restrictions on the number of phones you can access. That number is 10. Once you have reached 10 smartphones, any new login you make will log out a previous smartphone you use.

This literally means that you will be replacing the smartphones.

What If I Change My Phone Number?

Any change that is made to your details will have to be corrected. To do this, you will have to log in using the Huawei ID. Then, make the important changes you wish to make. This also applies to any changes you wish to make to your email address.

To make sure you are really the one making those changes, Huawei might ask you to verify yourself through some process. So be prepared for that.

What If I Forget My Huawei Password?

The answer is once again tied to your Huawei ID. You will need to head to the home screen of your Huawei ID. Once you’re there, you’ll see an option for “forgot password”.

Once you click on it, you’ll see an option to put in your ID. Huawei will now send you an email that should guide you on how you can restore your password. The process is similar to other websites. So, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Getting a Huawei Phone

Interested in some of the services that the HMS has? If you are, then you’d need to get yourself a Huawei phone to enjoy this. Trust me, it’s an entirely new experience that can leave an imprint in your mind.

The Huawei phone and its ID are here to stay. They are set to have a great impact on the future, one that is hard to imagine.

How important is the security of your mobile apps?

by Joyce Gray August 27, 2020

Mobile apps are taking the world by storm. They are everywhere and in every business. Right from booking tickets to paying utility bills, and to internet banking, people use apps on smartphones for almost everything.

Smartphone companies are lowering the prices of phones to make then more affordable and accessible, which is increasing the space for mobile app developers. Besides, as competition rises and middle-class people incline toward using apps to do small chores from the comforts of their homes, more and more businesses are turning toward app business. However, the pace at which the business is growing, its security is not given much importance. Companies forget to pay attention to the importance of Fast Identity Online standards which stresses the use of a biometric authentication system for your mobile app.

What hackers are capable of?

If you know what hackers can do to you and what they are capable of, it will easier for you to decide whether to integrate a biometric authentication system into your mobile app or not. Here is a rundown of how a hacker approaches his target.

  • They can inject malicious code into your app. They also can leave a Trojan on your device, which helps them get access to the database, passwords, and keystrokes. Once they have access, they can manipulate the app at will.
  • They can tamper with the app code and manipulate it to develop a fraudulent version of it so that they can dupe the users into thinking that it is original. Once the user enters his or her login credentials, the hackers get in control of the account.
  • A hacker can potentially intercept information when you are about to carry out a task on the smartphone. This can be from the user’s end or the client’s end. In most cases, the interception takes place from the user’s end.
  • A hacker is highly likely to access the IP address of the user once he gets access. He can jeopardize the security of the company and get hold of its intellectual property.

Social networking apps are equally important from a security point of view because they contain plenty of personal information of users like date of birth, location, name, and address.

How to secure the app?

Mobile app security is not linear. It consists of multiple layers. The security of each layer of the app gets to play a key role in the overall security of the mobile app. You ought to secure the back end of the app, the databases, the operating systems, and user data. The basic step, which is mostly ignored by most app developers, is developing secure code. Vulnerabilities in the code generally arise from human error, insufficient testing, and lack of maintenance. You should do the following for making the app secure.

  • Encrypt the code so that it is hard to read.
  • Test the source code of the app to slash the chances of an attack.
  • The code ought to be easy to be patched and updated so that it stays strong while in use.

by Joyce Gray February 13, 2013

Customizing your Android smartphone the way you like it to appear like is one of the smaller features that’s used a lot on Android. Users like  to customize their smartphones with new wallpapers, lock screen themes or just rearranging the icons on their homescreens with some new widget addons too. However, if you’re using a HTC Android Smartphone that runs the HTC Sense UI, the HTC Sense Version on Android 4.1 and above has made it difficult to get to the personalization option as easily as before.

To get around this and reach personalizing your homescreen as quickly as you can, there’s a easy way to go about doing it. Two of them, actually. Read further to get it working on your HTC Sense enabled phone instantly:

Proceedure

Method 1

  • Once settings is added to your homescren, you can tap on it and hit personalize inside directly.

How to Access Google Nexus Files on a Apple Mac

by Joyce Gray February 3, 2013

If you’re an Apple’s Mac OS user and also have a Google Nexus 7 device, getting to access the files in your Nexus device might be tougher than how an external storage generally is. You might have experienced that it doesn’t show up as a normal storage device in the Finder application. This is because the Nexus 7 uses MTP protocol and OS X does not support the Media Transfer Protocol out of the box.

However, there’s a small application that can be used for this which can be implemented to ensure that file transfers through the Nexus 7 work normally as they’re supposed to.

Here are the steps to do them:

  1. You need to head to http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ and download the File Transfer application and have it installed on the Mac.
  2. Now, install the DMG that has been downloaded.
  3. That’s with the setting up of the Android File Transfer Application. Go ahead and connect your Nexus device now and you can see it appear on your desktop screen of your OS X operating system.
  4. If at all the device’s files aren’t seen, go to settings on your Nexus device, USB Settings and make sure USB MTP is enabled.

That’s all is needed to get the Nexus device’s files accessible on your Mac. Pretty simple, isn’t it? Do let us know if you have any queries in the comments section.

How to Enable or Disable Apps running in Background on Android Devices

by Joyce Gray January 3, 2013

With over 450,000 apps and counting on the Play Store, there are many applications which run in the background without the permisson of the user, making the phone much slower and also sometimes, by collecting some data in the background etc.

For this purpose, one could use Task Managers or Task Killer applications which are available aplenty in the Android Play Store or even some widgets which can kill all the running apps in the background in one click. However, sometimes it might be disadvantageous. Say Skype is running the background and you want to kill it, one could do so manually or use a third party task manager app.

However, some of these apps from unknown developers do not kill just the app but also some processes that are used by the app which are also required for the phone’s normal functioning. By disabling the app, it totally disappears from the app drawer as well and no third party app can execute it.

Thus, it is recommended to use trusted Task manager applications or the default one in Android, which is the best alternative. To use this, follow these instructions :

  1. Open the App drawer from your homescreen and choose Settings. Alternatively, ICS devices also have a quick shortcut to settings from the notification bar when pulled down from the top.
  2. Once you’re into settings, choose ‘Apps’ from the list there.
  3. Here, you will see three tabs on the top namely ‘On SD Card’ , ‘Running’  and ‘All’ .
  4. Tap on All and you’ll be taken into the screen displaying all the installed apps on your phone along with default stock apps of Android.
  5. Choose the app that you want to stop and you’ll get two boxes named ‘Force Stop’ and ‘Disable’ .
  6. Tap on the ‘Disable’ button and a warning notification pop-up box might come up asking if you’re sure in executing this action. Tap ‘OK’ .
  7. Now the app is disabled and is pushed towards the end of the list. To enable, choose the app again and choose Enable.

Note that by disabling the app, the app will disappear from the App drawer until it is enabled once again in the settings page. To temporarily stop apps, you should choose the ‘Force Stop’ button while disabling it totally stops the app from being executed or functioning till it is enabled manually by the user.

How to Find Wifi Password with Android Phone – Network SSID

by Joyce Gray November 8, 2012

Call it as out of curiosity or hacking, in this article we will be guiding you on how you can find the password for the Network SSID with the help of your Android smartphone. Though we don’t believe in supporting hackers but it’s just an eye opener to you that simple passwords might are more prone to hacking. To ensure that this trick works or to make use of the same, you will have to first up ensure that your Android phone is rooted. To check on whether your device is rooted or not, you will have to download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store.

Tip: Just in case if your device is not rooted, then you can do let us know in the comments section about the same so that we can guide you to the rest of the process for rooting your Android device.

Procedue to Find Wifi Password with Android Phone – Network SSID

  • Assuming that you have rooted your device, head over to the Google PLAY Store to download an app called “Root Browser Lite (free)” app.
  • Once you have downloaded the app, open the same and navigate to the Data/misc/wifi folder to find the wpa_supplicant.conf file for opening the same.
  • Now, with the help of “RD Text Editor” you will have to open the conf file. Please note that it’s not necessary that you will have to make use of RD Text Editor but any text editor can be employed for the same.
  • Now, you will see that a list of data mentioning about various detais will be listed, so you now need to navigate to the “SSID” row in the name of Wi Fi network and then the “PSK” row will show the password of that particular Wi Fi connection.

Tip: To ensure that your Wi Fi connection password is not hacked, you need to ensure that the MAC based security is enabled in your MODEM which is in fact the toughest to crack.

Do share with us in the comments section just in case if you need any more help regarding the same as we will be more than happy to assist you with the same. The only limitation of this is that just in case if that Wi Fi based connection is having MAC level of security then you won’t be able to access the Wi Fi connection as one needs to add the MAC address of that device which is to be latched on in the modem settings.
